Cast: Richard Gere, Joan Allen, Sarah Roemer, Jason Alexander, Erick Avari. Director: Lasse Hallström Synopsis: Hachiko, the legendary Japanese akita, proves that there is nothing more loyal than mans best friend in this modern retelling of a cherished true story. It all begins when a college professor adopts an abandoned dog named Hachiko. The two form such a strong bond that Hachiko walks with the professor to the train station each morning and returns to the station each evening to walk the professor home again. The routine continues until one day the professor does not return to the train station. Hachiko, however, does not give up. He returns to the same train station at the same time, faithfully waiting for his owner to return. Hachiko does this for more than nine years, until his own death. This heartwarming tale that is already the stuff of legend in Japan is finally making its way to America by way of prominent director Lasse Hallström. With an equally capable cast, the experience of Hachikos unending loyalty is certain to stay with you. Hachikos story is one of love, unwavering devotion, and the resounding impact one dogs affection can make.

This movie is going straight to dvd instead of playing at the cinemas. You can buy it on March 9th. What a wonderful but so sad movie. Inspiring! Thank you Hachi for teaching us about friendship, loyalty and love. I love you!!! Never forget you Hachiko!

you can make fun of me (i don´t care),but i cried watching this movie,so…it means that it´s a good one
to JimAsian1, i say that no-one of the Hachiko produciton, ( Richard Gere included that is a producer and financier ) told and tell nothing about the no-teathers of Hachiko… i think they agree economically with the Company who decided that….

Watched the original version and loved it. This US version is available from Barnes & Noble in March this year; I can’t wait!
can someone please msg me the ending of the movie? i just want to know whether or not the dog got to see his owner b4 he died…like after waiting so long T____________T
you’re right, but I’d still like it, for those who wanted to see it in the theatres, and then to have a release date they gave for this movie in December of last year, then, for the company to decide not to release it but to send it direct to DVD without any explanation.
Again, sorry for being negative, just had to vent. I apologize
Thanks and peace and love and respect to you all!
OK, I don’t want to be rude and disrespectful to the U.S. or anyone else, it’s just my frustrations that has made me think they’re being negative to this movie for whatever reason. I apologize and am sorry.
I just really wish an explanation was given as to why this movie was not shown in the movie theatres in the U.S. as they said it was supposed to be in December.
Peace and love to all people of the U.S. and to all people wherever they are from.
Respect
Thanks.
dude, what in the world do u need an explanation for.. its not like u gonna do anything about it! lol
Just a follow-up regarding some of the replies here… I myself don’t give a flying fuck about the Oscars or Hollywood especially for that matter. Just give me a great movie like this WITHOUT all of their political agenda/themes. Just a good story, great acting… that’s all I need..
thanks for listening..
Look, I don’t mean to be disrespectful and negative and rude, it’s just so frustrating why they decided not to put it out in the theatres in the U.S. No explanation was ever given that I heard of? With all due respect to Marley and Me, they put that out in the theatres, which I don’t think was even a true story.
I don’t want to judge anyone and say they’re disrespectful or purposely negative to Hachiko. I’m sorry that I did. I just wish I had an explanation from the movie company.
