Toshie Takeuchi: “Tell You a Joke” 2009

This video is an examination of reactions and representation of beauty in miscommunication. My experience of living in foreign countries and adapting myself in different cultures gave me an idea of showing positive side of miscommunication. I found laughing at a joke and catching what is exactly funny about it in different cultures are more difficult than understanding the cultures and language itself. I twisted the perspective of viewing. The video shows reactions of my audience toward me and toward their partner, when I was telling them a funny joke.
